International Hue
Adaptive reuse project repurposing Rio Brazil’s abandoned Olympic parks into a new recreation and aquatic center.
Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Date: Spring 2023
Professor: Lauren Buntemeyer
Site Design
This project addresses the global issue of abandoned olympic architecture, particularly spaces left neglected after major events. The project aims to revitalize the park, attract visitors, and transform it into a vibrant, active space.
Denim Research
This project connects to the broader theme of unsustainable practices and their consequences.
For instance, the shift in denim manufacturing to support fast fashion—such as using synthetic indigo and polyester—has resulted in environmental degradation and the loss of denim’s original purpose as durable, personal workwear.
This parallels the issue of unsustainable architecture, where structures are often abandoned post-use.
